Written by Paula Devine | 12 Nov 2012

The Barnfield Federation is planning to put together an employer focus group for their Academy and Free schools. They are inviting expressions of interest from larger employers, particularly in the following sectors. Barnfield Federation see this as an opportunity to use their experience and put something back into the community through the education of young people.

  • New technologies
  • Business and leadership
  • Sports Sciences
  • Medical
  • Legal
  • Creative and cultural industries

The Employer Focus Group will operate as follows:

  • Providing industry/employers with a very real opportunity to contribute to, and be a key partner in the life of the Academies/Schools and contribute to the education and training of all Barnfield learners
  • The Chair of the group will identify Branding opportunities of the partnership to both serve Barnfield and the member organisations
  • Members input will be paramount to enable our students to glean an early understanding as to what contribution industry makes to all our working lives and the economy of the country
  • Members will be provided with the opportunity to: discuss and review academy/school curriculum delivery plans and where appropriate be consulted upon (projects; case studies; workshops and other activities)
  • Members will receive annual updates on academic progress and examination results; receive updates on key Barnfield Federation developments
  • Members will be invited to play a key role in Barnfield Federal activities
  • It is hoped that Employers are able to be a key support for providing work experience or shadowing opportunities
