Bedfordshire Chamber urges businesses to support London Luton Airport consultation on future of the airport

Written by Paula Devine | 05 Oct 2012

London Luton Airport Operations Limited have launched a consultation on their vision for the future of the airport, and are seeking the feedback of all those who have an interest in its development and improvement. The airport is one of the region’s most important assets. It is currently the 5th largest airport in the UK, was the fastest growing in 2011, and flies an increasing number of UK business passengers abroad on business.

Bedfordshire Chamber of Commerce strongly supports the development of the airport recognising its importance as a key economic growth driver for Bedfordshire and, indeed, the sub-region. Through approximately £100 million of proposed new investment, the operator intends to increase the capacity of the airport to 18 million passengers per year, which it believes will generate approximately £218 million in added annual value to the local economy, as well as create 4,500 additional jobs.

The Airport intends to submit a planning application later in the year, and the Chamber is encouraging businesses to take part in their consultation which closes on Friday 12th October. You can do so by filling in their 2 minute online survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ZRDBVK7
