Cranfield School of Management’s MBA has been named as one of the top 20 programmes in the world for entrepreneurship by the Financial Times.
The results were compiled from a combination of statistics and information from recent graduates. The MBA’s ranking for entrepreneurship climbed 25 places from 2017 to be ranked 18th in the world, one of the highest climbers in this year’s rankings.
Dr Stephanie Hussels, Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship at Cranfield School of Management, said: “This success recognises the entrepreneurial nature of Cranfield students, the support that we give our students in developing their own businesses and reinforces the importance of education for entrepreneurship.”
Cranfield has placed an increasing emphasis on entrepreneurship across the University, with activities such as Venture Day, Wednesday Business: Enterprise Talks and StartUp Weekend being led by the Bettany Centre for Entrepreneurship, under Dr Shai Vyakarnam.
StartUp Weekend provides a safe space for fledgling business ideas to be developed and pitched to experienced mentors, with the aim of finding the most viable business opportunities.
Participation at the weekend is open to PhD, MSc and MBA students, as well as potential start-up companies from outside the University, where they are encouraged to assess issues such as technology-readiness, cash flow and market need.

Today’s ranking reflects the emphasis that we have placed on entrepreneurship over the last few years, with entrepreneurship now being a key component of the MBA programme.”
