Drop in to Bedfordshire’s Community Vineyard
Date & Time: 01/09/2015 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm | Location: Warden Abbey
We would be delighted if someone from your company could join us at our drop-in session for local businesses on Tuesday 1st September, anytime between 12.30 and 3.30pm. Over a glass of wine, you’ll be able to find out more about what we do and what opportunities there are for local business to get involved with this unique community project.
Who are we? Vines were first planted at Warden Abbey in medieval times. Part of a Scheduled Monument, this award-winning five acre vineyard is now run by Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity as a not-for-profit community project. It relies totally on its volunteers, who are involved in all aspects of its running, care, and wider development, and who work to keep this historic vineyard for the community. The project works with other local charities and schools to provide a unique setting for:
• learning and skills projects
• social and therapeutic horticulture
• wildlife and heritage projects
• experience of working in the countryside
• help into employment through volunteering
• social interaction, especially among older volunteers
Our activities provide opportunities which can contribute to Corporate Social Responsibility targets and connection with your local community, ranging from team volunteering, or support for specific activities such as school visits or the creation of a medieval garden, to sponsoring rows of vines, equipment or events.
How to find the vines: The vineyard is just off Bedford Road, between Old Warden and Cardington. Full directions to the vineyard, and a map, are on our website http://www.wardenvineyard.org.uk/about-us/find-us
