Health and Safety Executive consulting on changes to reduce burden on business

Written by Paula Devine | 07 Aug 2012

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is currently consulting on two proposed changes:

Firstly, proposals to exempt the self-employed whose work activities pose no potential risk of harm to others, from health and safety law. The HSE is particularly keen to hear from the self-employed. The consultation document can be found here.

Secondly, proposals to Revise the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR). This seeks to re-examine whether RIDDOR is the best approach to providing an accurate national picture of workplace accidents. The consultation document can be found here.
