Defence showcase at Millbrook

Written by Paula Devine | 28 Jun 2013

Defence and industry representatives involved in the land equipment sector gathered at Millbrook Proving Ground last week (19th & 20th June) to showcase innovative and efficient solutions for the support, upkeep and development of land equipment and capabilities that will feature in the Army 2020 structure.

Celebrating its tenth anniversary, DVD2013 was, for the first time, jointly run by Army Headquarters and DE&S Land Equipment.  In another first for DVD2013, the Commanding Officer, key commanders and staff from a field army brigade attended. With recent experience from Afghanistan and a key role in developing contingent capability for the future, key officers with operational experience are uniquely placed to provide the input that all suppliers have consistently sought from DVD.

The event was opened by Philip Dunne MP, Minister for Defence Equipment, Support and Technology who welcomed everyone to the event and said:  “I challenge industry to maintain the drum beat of innovation that has underpinned the delivery capability as we transform our support to deliver the Army of the future.”

Miguel Fragoso, Managing Director of Millbrook, commented:  “We are delighted to be the venue of choice again – especially as DVD celebrates 10 successful  years.  Once again we have delivered a unique event which enables companies to showcase their equipment – and whether it is a specialist vehicle or a deployable CT scanner, the exhibitors have been delighted with the venue.  The fact that we are able to offer over 70km of test tracks together with a range of conference venues alongside the exhibition space brings clients back to Millbrook year after year, as DVD has shown.”
