The Incuba

Written by Paula Devine | 21 Jun 2013

The Incuba Business & Innovation Day (IBID) represents the first in a programme of conference, workshop and training initiatives to be run in connection with the opening in September of The Incuba, an exciting new learning and business innovation centre in Dunstable. IBID will bring together local businesses and networks, with national experts and organisations, to share information, ideas and contacts in a dynamic one-day forum. The speaker programme will feature a keynote afternoon address from the new SEMLEP Chief Executive, Daniel Mouawad, with the roster of event supporters including such as the Federation of Small Businesses, National Apprenticeships Scheme, Central Bedfordshire Council and Bedfordshire Chamber of Commerce, plus both Cranfield University and the University of Bedfordshire.

In keeping with the objectives and aspirations for The Incuba as a development platform and incubator home for SMEs and start-ups, the programme has been designed to provide maximum direct benefit to these business groups, helping them to build and grow, network and learn. Key themes for the day include; Funding, Jobs and Skills; Innovation and Enterprise and Performance and Resource Efficiency.

The event is free to attend and registered delegates can also bid to take part in a quick-fire showcase session, presenting to the room on the day. There will also be plenty of opportunities to network with key representatives from local and regional business hubs and sectors.

Who should attend?

The information and networking opportunities are tailored to the needs of decision-makers in SMEs and local business, from established companies to start-ups, from those under pressure to find savings and efficiencies, to others keen to explore opportunities for growth and expansion. There will be ample opportunity for questions to be asked in order to assist business investors, owners, managers and their consultants in getting the answers needed on the day.

Why should you attend?

Attendees will develop their understanding of the breadth and depth of support and specialist services available to them in business markets, both locally and across the wider region, improving their access to:

  • Development, planning and finance advice and opportunities;
  • Training and skills packages and programmes;
  • Technology and innovation networks;
  • Sustainable resource efficiency solutions; plus
  • Green business consultancy.

Delegates will be invited to apply for the chance to present to the live audience in an innovation showcase, designed to provide a shop window for the products and services of SMEs and start-up businesses.
