The Mall - Retail Factor Competition

Written by Paula Devine | 20 Jan 2014

The Mall, Luton has announced the launch of its eighth annual Retail Factor competition this January. The competition provides small businesses, both start up and established, with the opportunity to trade rent free in The Mall for a three week period. All businesses that don’t already have a permanent presence are invited to apply.

A panel of judges will assess the entrepreneurs on their commercial viability, originality, market appeal and development potential. Shortlisted finalists will be invited to pitch their idea in person. The local winner will trade rent free for three weeks and will also be entered into a nationwide competition with the other Mall shopping centres for a chance to win a cash contribution towards stock, business mentoring from an industry entrepreneur and a place at the prestigious Oxford Summer School.

A unique competition, Retail Factor gives small and start-up businesses the opportunity to grow their business, meet thousands of new customers face to face and build their brand.

Lavinia Douglass, Marketing Manager at The Mall, Luton, said: “The Mall has always been very supportive of independent businesses. We have a number of independent traders at The Mall and really value the important role they play in the centre.
“Retail Factor is a great opportunity for small and start-up independent businesses without a physical presence to meet their customers face to face and take their business to a new level.”

Businesses interested in applying should fill out a simple application form on themall.co.uk/retailfactor by 23 February 2014.
